Once upon a time, there was a wood cutter and he wanted a job. He asked for job to a timber merchant and he got it. He was very happy and the pay was very good. As he got a good job, he determined to give his best.
His boss gave him axe and showed him the place where he has to cut trees.
The first day, wood cutter bought 18trees.
His boss congratulated him and said "keep going".
He was excited as boss appreciated him and he worked very much hard to get more trees but he could get only 15 trees next day.
Again on the very next day, he worked much harder but he got less trees compared to previous day and this continued for some days.
He thought to himself " I might be loosing my strength" and went to his boss and apologized him saying "he didn't knew what was happening"
"When was the last time you had sharpened your AXE?" asked the boss.
" I had no time to sharpen my AXE, as i was busy cutting trees..."
~ Stephen Covey
Moral:
Our lives are like that, we are so busy in our life that we forget to sharpen our axe. In today's world it looks like everyone is busy than ever and less happier.
There is nothing wrong with getting busy and working hard but we must not forget our life. Because we are earning to live and not living to earn.
Life will be gone in earning money and by the time you become rich, you will loose your time like the time you had to spend, hanging out with your partner, children, friends. If time once lost, it will never come back.
We need to take out time and sharpen our axe. We have to relax, meditate daily, get closer to our creator, spend quality time with family members, taking time to read.
Live in Present and don't forget to sharpen your axe.
